One way of tracking change and bringing environmental and social messages across is through images. FOP takes and collects vast numbers of images in the form of transparencies, black and white photographs, digital photographs, and scanned in historical photographs with the aim of making them available in high quality publications, websites and for educational purposes. Claudio Velasquez Rojas, the FOP Director of photography, has more than 17 years’ experience as documentary photographer and video cameraman. During extensive filming expeditions for FOP and EcoAfrica, Claudio has built up a substantial collection of slides covering landscape, people, natural habitat and wildlife in ecological hotspots world wide. These include "last Edens" in Madagascar, Seychelles, Aldabra, Malawi, Namibia, Mozambique, South Africa, Botswana, Uganda, Angola and Chile. The photos were originally taken to illustrate the books which accompany the FOP film series, as well as to record drastic changes in the environment and people. These images are extensively used by FOP sister companies and NGOs - EcoAfrica South Africa, Namibia and Angola and International Knowledge Management (IKM) - for presentation lectures and reports. In addition, Claudio ‘s images have been published in numerous books and magazines including National Geographic, BBC wildlife, Africa Geographic, Africa Birds and Birding, etc. We are in the process of organising our high quality transparencies into a digital image library and hope to be able to provide access to an online catalogue in the near future. All images used in this website are from FOP stock. Pictures are increasingly used by community-based organisations, conservancies and small businesses and will soon be made available free of charge for educational purposes through the DLIST website.
